Just a quick, simple skirt where instead of doing a full circle hem, I started by making a basic A-line mini skirt, and then adding a half circle hem piece to it.
Tutorials take a lot of time & effort to create, and I choose to make mine available for free. If you enjoy this guide, you can support me with a donation that feels right for you, here.
TOOLS:
Fabric (I used crepe) 2 m full width | Thread, sewing machine | Invisible zipper | Pins | Scissors
I. First I made a basic A-line skirt with an invisible zip in the back (pretty much exactly like this one minus the frill hem). I measured my hem length (ended up being about 114 cm), added 3 cm or so to that for seam allowances, and plugged it into the circle skirt calculator (with quarter skirt option) to get my radius - 73.5 cm.
II. I traced my quarter circle hem and cut it out:
III. Before pinning the hem onto the skirt, I put the skirt on and marked where I wanted the slit to be located. Then pinned the hem onto the skirt starting from that mark, and all around. Sewed in place.
.. And finished the slit by sewing it closed just a tiny bit at the top, and then doing a double fold on the vertical edges.
Last step was to hem the skirt.
