Making: Minimal Straight Cut Spaghetti Strap Midi

In all my years of sewing, the one lesson I still can't learn is: Don't sew on a day you don't feel like sewing. The day I made this dress was a day like that, but giving up is for weaklings. So instead of taking a break, I re-did the darts twice and there's now a mark in the wall where I threw my seam ripper♩ ♪ ♫ ♬

So you understand why there's not much of a tutorial. Anyway this is a re-make of a gingham mini from last year - just did a darted bust instead of the tailored one, and a full midi-length skirt. I used about 2 m of 100% cotton (150 cm width).

I. My cut pieces for the top (2 of each since double-layer):
II. Prepped the top by sewing one side seam and adding the famous darts to each side. If you think I did them twice at this stage, think again.. I finished the whole dress and had to adjust them as the laaaaast step.
III. After pinning the two top layers right sides facing, flipping right side out and pressing I eventually had a finished top part:
IV. Last bit was to add the skirt which I made single layer (I wear an underskirt with this since the material is pretty see-through). Left 20 cm slits on both sides.
xo,

Julia
