The IKEA as-is section is one of my favourite random places to buy fabric. Example: high quality linen in Dubai usually goes for around 14-17€/m. I got this single bed sheet (about 4 meters of fabric) for less than 20€. I made a jacket, shorts, and that was less than half of the material used. A skirt and/or dress may be in the cards.
Tutorials take a lot of time & effort to create, and I choose to make mine available for free. If you enjoy this guide, you can support me with a donation that feels right for you, here.

I. Here are the measurements. I'm EU36/US4, but given that this is a loose fit style, one size up or down will work with these dimensions. Yes, I am lazy enough to preserve the wide fold that was already on the bed sheet, to use as my hem. I cut the pieces as they are below, but later in the process decided I wanted to front cut more straight. The blue line shows how I adjusted it.
Back piece measurements:
And sleeves:
II. First did my shoulder seams (flat felled seam):
III. Then pinned my sleeves in their spots, sewed, and did the sleeve under seam and side seam. I was so massively proud of doing a flat-felled seam on the reverse as well instead of cutting corners with my serger.
IV. Last bit was to first sew my front lining pieces and the back of the neckline lining piece together, and then pin the long slither up the front, around the back, and back down (right sides facing. Then just sewed around, flipped the lining on the reverse, folded the raw edge under, and sewed in in place.
Man I'm happy with this one.
I also made matching shorts, but didn't document that part.. I love them so much though that I'll make another pair soon, tutorial coming then.
xo,
Julia
